Significance of Super Lawyers’ 2020 Rising Stars List
The Rising Stars list includes a maximum 2.5% of attorneys in each state, all of whom must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. The Rising Stars selection process is the same as the Super Lawyers process, with the exception of age and years of practice. While up to five percent of lawyers in each state are selected to the Super Lawyers list, half of that percentage are named to the Rising Stars list, which emphasizes how selective and exclusive this accolade is. There are about 90,000 active attorneys in Texas, so to see our associate attorney be recognized as a Rising Star speaks volumes about his work.
As a brief overview of the process:
- It begins with nominations and the candidate pool creation
- Then Super Lawyers conducts independent research based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement
- Names undergo a peer evaluation by practice area, or a “blue ribbon review”
- Step four is the final selection of Super Lawyers, and those who don’t make the list but meet either one of the Rising Stars criteria will go through the Rising Stars selection process
