Being Awarded DWI Super Lawyer (2022)
We are pleased to announce that Attorney Jonathan Zendeh Del has been named as a Super Lawyer for his work as a criminal defense and DWI attorney. While this is not his first time being included as a Super Lawyer, we are beyond proud and grateful that his peers continue to recognize his dedication to his clients and practice.
How Prestigious Is Super Lawyers?
According to data from the American Bar Association, there are approximately 1,327,910 licensed attorneys in the U.S., and Texas is the home and practice location of 93,821 attorneys. Super Lawyers only name five percent of lawyers in each state.
While hundreds of thousands of attorneys have been named as Super Lawyers, even fewer attorneys have received this honor for their work as DWI attorneys. Specifically, only 16 attorneys have been recognized as DWI Super Lawyers, and Attorney Jonathan Zendeh Del is the only DWI attorney to be recognized in Galveston, TX.
What Is the Super Lawyers Selection Process?
The Super Lawyers selection process has five steps: nominations, independent research, peer evaluation, final selection (for Super Lawyers), and Rising Star selections. In the nomination stage, Super Lawyer researchers and attorneys can submit candidates; invitations are sent out to attorneys in all 50 states asking them to name attorneys they’ve witnessed in action or worked with who are at the top of their field.
While attorneys can nominate other people in their firm, these nominations must be matched by the submission of at least one out-firm nomination. No one is allowed to submit their own name, and lawyers are not allowed to campaign or “game the system.”
During the independent research phase, Super Lawyer staff researchers evaluate nominees based on twelve different factors (that are not treated equally and have different weights in the point system). The evaluation factors are:
- Educational background
- Employment history
- Honors and awards
- Legal experience
- Position within their firm
- Pro bono and/or community service
- Representative clients
- Scholarly lectures and publications
- Special licenses or certificates
- Verdicts/settlements
- Any other relevant achievements
Nominees who receive the most points in the research phase are asked to participate in the process and serve on the blue ribbon panel. This panel conducts the peer evaluation process, and each panelist receives a list of candidates within their practice area to review based on a rating scale.
Finally, candidates are placed in four groups based on the size of their firm, and within those groups, those with the highest total points in each category are selected as Super Lawyers or Rising Stars (if the candidate has been in practice for less than a decade or is under the age of 40 years old).
About Attorney Jonathan Zendeh Del
Jonathan Zendeh Del is a Galveston, Texas native. He is a graduate of Baylor University. After completing his education, Jonathan worked as an insurance company lawyer in state and federal court. He also worked as general counsel, handling business litigation and civil litigation cases. After practicing in Oklahoma, Jonathan returned to Galveston and open a practice, Zendeh Del & Associates, PLLC, with his wife.
Jonathan has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star (in 2014, 2017-2019) and a Super Lawyer since 2022. He has also been included on the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” list by The National Trial Lawyers and received a 10.0 Superb Avvo Rating for his legal experience and industry recognition.
